Open Days

Gates of the European Centre for Theatre Practices "Gardzienice" opened for all our visitors. It was a unique opportunity to meet the cast and creator of Theatre, visit the restored buildings of the palace and park complex, admire all the planned exhibitions, and have fun at the Artistic Gathering.

The Open Day at the European Centre for Theatre Practices Gardzienice was held on October 5 (Sunday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.). It was the last Open Day in 2014. At 5 p.m. there was a concert of songs from the history of the Theatre "Gardzienice".

The European Centre for Theatre Practices "Gardzienice" was available between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. At 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. there was a walk with a guide. Our visitors could see the Palace, the Granary, the Outbuilding, and Park with the Gardens – both "Japanese" and "Magic". Our facilities are accessible for people with disabilities.

In the Palace were planned:

  • the permanent exhibition of sculptures created by professor Adam Myjak, who is one of the most outstanding contemporary Polish artists and who presented his works on more than 70 exhibitions in Poland and abroad. In 2005, for his contribution to the Polish culture, Adam Myjak was awarded a gold medal Gloria Artis. In 2012, for the fifth time, he became a Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, he also works as a professor at the Faculty of Arts of the Maria-Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin leading Department of Sculpture (www.adammyjak.com)
  • exhibition of theatrical costumes from the collection of Farrah Abdel Sistovari / Thiasos Theatre
  • exhibition of paintings by Slawomir Zwierz, recognized landscape painter associated with the Warsaw artistic milieu - Teatralia. Presented canvases, inspired by the spirit of the theatre, are a kind of iconographic exception in his work, usually recording, in a painted form, the poetry of open spaces (although the similar cycle of paintings was created at the turn of the 80s and 90s). The form of these images is reminiscent of Potworowski  in color and in the sophisticated aesthetics, and to Neue Wilde in the raw, unbridled element.  Curator: Małgorzata Stępnik, the time of the exhibition: from 18 May to 30 November 2014 (www.malarstwozwierz.pl)

At 17.00 we welcomed you at the Artistic Gathering with the director, actors and musicians, who performed a concert of selected songs from the past and present performances of "Gardzienice" Theatre (THE EVENING PERFORMANCE, SORCERY, THE LIFE OF ARCHIPREST AVVAKUM, CARMINA BURANA, METAMORPHOSES, ELEKTRA, IPHIGENIA AT A..., IPHIGENIA IN T..., PYTHIAN ORATORIO).

The event was under the patronage of Gazeta Wyborcza Lublin and Radio Lublin.
