Throughout the entire post-war period it was managed by the Farmers' Cooperative . In the nineties it was a private property of one of the residents of Gardzienice village, lent out to the Centre to serve the realization of numerous international artistic projects. Since 2005 it became the property of GARDZIENICE.
Some musical and theatrical Dionysia of unimaginable climate taken place in its rotten and crumbling interiors. Here performed, among others, Elen Stewart from LAMAMA, here sang and played trumpeters and singers from Poltava, dancers from Georgia and many others. Here were presented most of performances of Gardzienice.
Today Granary - after reconstruction - became the headquarters of the Academy for Theatre Practices . With a beautiful , three-storey theatre hall with modern equipment (and outside elevator!), with lecture rooms, multimedia library, dressing rooms and even some guest rooms.
Włodzimierz Staniewski worked on the vision of the object with the architect prof. Jerzy Uścinowicz whose concepts of implementation of director’s crazy dreams are worthy of the highest recognition.
